Settings, data & privacy
How your data is protected
Your local data is encrypted. Changes between paired devices are end-to-end encrypted and go directly between them.
Your plans, Journal, people, photos, files, History and daily copies are encrypted on your device. When you choose nearby sharing or Your devices, the transferred changes are end-to-end encrypted; only devices paired by a code or matching six digits can read them.
Moving to a new iPhone
There is a secret key that unscrambles your data; this key never leaves this iPhone. That's what keeps it safe, but it also means an iCloud or computer backup of your iPhone can't back up PlanIT data. Use a PlanIT backup file instead, and keep its password somewhere safe.
Good to know
- Widgets can display a short summary, so they can work without opening PlanIT.
- Notifications and alarms can show titles on the lock screen. The privacy lock hides the Journal's.
- A backup file without a password can be read by anyone who has it.
- Your iPhone's passcode matters most: a longer one keeps everything safer.
If PlanIT can't open your data
PlanIT works offline with no server, no cloud and no account. After you choose to pair, shared plans and your own linked devices sync directly, end-to-end encrypted, only while PlanIT is open and the devices can connect locally. There is no background or internet sync.
